IT Customer Satisfaction During a Pandemic - How did we do? (SFHB 357)

ISU administered a new customer satisfaction survey on IT services - the MISO survey - for the first time in early 2021. The MISO survey takes over where we left off with the TechQual+ survey, and asks faculty, staff and students to rate their usage of, the importance of, and their satisfaction with our top IT services. Recipients also rate their satisfaction with the support provided by IT teams and provide feedback on where things can improve. 2020 was a year like no other at Illinois State, and a year in which technology was more important than ever... how did our campus community rate IT during a pandemic?

  • Carla Birckelbaw
Carla Birckelbaw is the Director of Client Services in the Office of Technology Solutions, responsible for the Technology Support Center and Endpoint Support teams, along with a list of side projects that includes measuring IT customer satisfaction.

Eye-contact and Framing in Video Meetings (SFHB 354)

Note: this session is expected to run approximately 30 minutes

Video meetings often have a sense of disconnect or stressful intrusion, or paradoxically both, even when the other participants are fully engaged. Often this is due to camera alignment, lighting, and framing problems that can be easily corrected. This session will demonstrate a range of examples and solutions for "face-to-face" video meetings.

  • George Wiman
George has a background in portrait photography, combined with a great deal of experimentation in video meeting, and has uncovered some simple solutions to this common problem.

OpenShift at ISU (SFHB 353)

OpenShift is an open-source platform for managing containerized workloads that facilitates declarative configuration and automation. In other words, it's a super sweet way to deploy server-side software. The role of OpenShift at ISU is starting to expand after initially being piloted with the Tech Solutions IntegrationsTeam. Members of that team will give an overview of how they use the system, followed by Q&A or general discussion of the technology.

  • Nathan Stien
