Continuous Improvement in Technology MVP Award

Description

The MVP Award recognizes one full-time technical staff member each year in the Illinois State University community for outstanding contribution(s) to the support of faculty, staff, students, and/or operations, as well as collaboration with others. The winner will receive a $1,000 award, to be used for professional development opportunities.

  • Qualifications

    • Any member of the CIT community may nominate a technical staff member for this award.
    • The nominee must have worked in any full-time staff technical position at Illinois State University for at least one year prior to the submission deadline. Financial awards may only be distributed to staff actively employed at the time of the award announcement.
    • MVP Award winners are not eligible to win the award for a period of four years after their initial receipt of the award.
    • The MVP Award winner is announced at the CIT Annual Conference in early August. Honorable mentions are also announced at that time.
    • Nominations for the 2024 MVP Award may be submitted here.
  • Tips for Nominators

    • Submit on time. Nominations are due via the online form no later than June 30.
    • Be specific. Pay careful attention to the evaluation criteria below and be sure to include in your nomination how specifically the staff member has excelled in those areas. More detail typically scores higher as it is made clear how the staff member meets the qualification criteria.
    • Provide backup. Include statements of support from up to three individuals with your nomination. No particular format is required. Statements of support that come from a variety of sources, including customers and partners, score higher. All statements of support must be submitted to isucit@ilstu.edu by the submission deadline to be considered.
    • Know the score. The CIT Planning Committee uses a scoring matrix to evaluate nominees. Both the nomination form and any statements of support factor into this scoring. Following is the criteria on which MVP Award nominees are evaluated, along with the score weighting:
      • Significant and impactful contribution to faculty, staff, students, and/or operations. (40%)
      • Collaborating with others - working with colleagues and customers to assist, mentor, and/or develop. (30%)
      • Statements of support, rated on both number and quality (30%)

Congratulations to Jim Johnson, the winner of the 2023 CIT MVP Award!
