Dr. Matt Caplan will discuss his research into black holes and how ISU computing resources support it
Dr. Matt Caplan
Matt Caplan is currently a professor of physics at Illinois State University where he studies dense matter in white dwarfs, neutron stars, and microscopic black holes. Prof. Caplan received his BS from the University of Virginia and his PhD from Indiana University, and won the Dissertation Award in Nuclear Physics from the APS in 2018. He was previously a Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics National Fellow at McGill University and an inaugural fellow of the Physicists Coalition for Nuclear Threat Reduction. Beyond academia, he is a scriptwriter for PBS Digital Studios and Kurzgesagt.
